Why Locals Love Alchemist Coffee Project
Nestled in the vibrant heart of Los Angeles at 698 S Vermont Ave, the Alchemist Coffee Project serves as a unique haven for coffee aficionados and casual sippers alike. This stylish café effortlessly blends artistry with craftsmanship, making every visit more than just a coffee run — it’s an experience.
Step inside, and you’ll be immediately drawn to the thoughtfully curated decor. The ambiance combines a hint of steampunk flair with modern comfort, offering an inviting space where each piece, from the chic chairs to the well-designed tables, feels deliberately chosen to enhance your time here. It’s a setting that sparks creativity and warmth, whether you’re meeting friends, working, or simply savoring a quiet moment.
The real star, of course, is the coffee. Alchemist Coffee Project’s range is impressively broad, catering to diverse palates with offerings that include their signature Single Origin Cold Brew and the intriguing New Orleans Cold Brew. For those seeking warm comfort, their traditional lattes and standout specialties such as the Spanish Latte and the luscious Creme Brûlée Latte offer depth and richness that gently envelop the senses. The Matcha latte here is another must-try, capturing perfectly balanced earthiness and creaminess.
Beyond beverages, the café offers delightful treats that elevate the overall experience. Imagine biting into a fresh, flaky croissant, or indulging in their renowned Basque cheesecake — decadently smooth, with just the right hint of caramelization. The Artelice cookies are a subtle but satisfying companion to your drink, adding a touch of sweetness without overpowering.
Customer feedback reflects both the charm and areas for fine-tuning at Alchemist Coffee Project. Patrons appreciate the friendly service and quality pours, often noting the impressive latte art even on to-go cups — a small gesture that speaks to the team’s pride in their craft. Some guests, however, mention that the vibrant atmosphere can sometimes be lively to the point of being a little loud, which might not cater perfectly to those seeking quiet concentration. Nonetheless, the café’s productive and uplifting vibe keeps customers coming back.
The location within a plaza ensures convenient parking, an often underrated perk in bustling LA. It’s the perfect neighborhood spot to unwind, whether you’re taking a break from work or exploring the city’s rich coffee culture.
In essence, the Alchemist Coffee Project is not just a coffee shop; it’s a carefully crafted experience where style meets substance, flavor meets flair, and every detail invites you to savor the moment. If you appreciate specialty coffee with character and a welcoming, thoughtfully designed space, this café will surely enchant your senses.

The place is really nice and has a lot of style. I loved the decor, the chairs, the tables—everything feels well thought out and it’s a pleasant space to be in. The staff was friendly and the coffee was good, so overall it was a solid experience. The only reason I’m not giving it five stars is simple: the music was way too loud. It’s not the best spot if you’re trying to focus, work, or just have a quiet moment, because the loud pop music makes it hard to relax or concentrate. If you’re looking for a calmer café away from noise, this wouldn’t be the right choice. If they turned the music down a bit, it would be close to perfect for me.

Been here twice so far and both times have been great. The available syrups are not house-made, so I skipped on getting vanilla latte (my go-to drink) and got the Spanish coffee, which was great. Their Matcha latte was pretty solid too. Btw, I loved their Basque cheesecake. It was delicious.

Alchemist Coffee Project @ LA Great coffee spot with impressive attention to detail. Even the to-go cups have latte art, which was a nice surprise. I ordered the Spanish Latte & the Signature Misugaru Latte — both were good. The shop itself is small, but parking is easy since it’s located in a plaza, which makes stopping by very convenient. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy specialty coffee and something a little different.

Food: 8.1/10 (got the croissant: super fresh and crispy) Service: 7.5/10 (not chatty but still nice) Atmosphere: 7.5/10 (Productive, plenty of tables and places to sit. It can be loud sometimes) Coffee: 7.8/10 (really nice, good coffee experience) Super fun spot. Productive environment, but it can be loud at times. The staff were nice enough, but they didn't seem very chatty; could be a plus or minus. The coffee came out quickly. Love that they have a "for here" option where they give you a mug. Less single use products and better coffee drinking experience. The croissant was surprisingly fresh and crispy. My latte (regular milk) was VERY clean and had a nice lightness with it, which is rare for a latte in my opinion. I would recommend!

Was staying in the area for a couple of days and we were able to walk to this cute little shop. Fun decorations inside very like steampunk in a way but for coffee. Service was goods My friends enjoy their coffees, so I’m not sure what they were drinking, I think they got the same the next day . The first day I had the tiramisu drink, and it was quite delightful, more dessert than it was coffee, but it was still very good . The second day I had a brown sugar latte, and it was good . The ham and cheese croissant was so incredibly flaky. I got a second day in a row. . We tried the honey cake and it’s very nostalgic and reminds me of a moon pie, and I can’t stop thinking about it. I would love to know where they get their pastries from. . Definitely skip the chain coffee shops, and come here!

I love this coffee shop! The coffee is excellent — this was my second visit, and it was just as good as the first. If you ever find yourself in Welshell, definitely stop by this place. Highly recommend their coffee!

I discovered this café by chance while walking around Los Angeles. The service is quick and very friendly. I spent some time there with my wife, she had an almond milk cappuccino, and I had an iced hibiscus tea.

Intended to pay a visit to their West Adams location, but apparently the listing was kinda misleading as it's not open yet. Having 2 existing locations in Ktown, the one at Pearl apartment was just awesome and I couldn't agree more when plenty other reviews called it as productive space. Yeah, just perfect when you tried to find a place with plenty of power outlets, decent wifi, and many seats. There's also retail parking space next door, and they gave 90minutes validation. Plenty of pastries were served on the showcase and I was so glad hearing the barista offered if I wanted my Ricotta cake being reheated. Served warm, the fluffy and moist cake was so comforting and just YUM! The Caramel Latte was decent enough, not overly sweet and the coffee was pretty good. Wouldn't call it my most favorite around the area, but offering such a cozy space would make me having reasons to come back.
